Kilkerran "Heavily Peated" Batch 10, 700ml
The sister distillery to Springbank, Kilkerran was founded by William Mitchell in 1872, Originally named Glengyle, the distillery faced challenges during the early 20th century economic downturn, leading to closure in 1925.
There were multiple atemps to reopen it when finally in early 2000’s, Mitchell's Glengyle Limited, led by Hedley Wright, revived the distillery and named it after the Gaelic name of Campbeltown region.
A departure from the typically lightly peated single malt, Heavily Peated Kilkerran is released twice per year at cask strength and around 45PPM.
Kilkerran "Heavily Peated" Batch No. 10 was aged in 90% bourbon casks and 10% sherry casks before being bottled at cask strength.
Nose: True to Kilkerran's style, the nose features citrus notes of lemon and key lime pie, complemented by toasted rye bread and peat smoke.
Palate: The palate reveals toasted marshmallows and campfire embers, with hints of vanilla and custard.
Finish: The finish carries the smokiness through, ending with a mineral note.
