Domaine Baron Thenard Montrachet Grand Cru 2018, 750ml
Domaine Baron Thenard Montrachet Grand Cru 2018, 750ml is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
100% Chardonnay sourced from the estate's significant 1.84-hectare holding within the Montrachet Grand Cru, situated on the Chassagne-Montrachet side of the appellation. The east-southeast facing vineyard rests on thin, well-drained Bathonian limestone soils mixed with magnesium, white marl, and stone debris. The vines are managed traditionally using seasonal plowing and natural cover crop to regulate growth. The fruit is pressed slowly in a pneumatic press and transferred directly to oak vats for fermentation, which begins spontaneously using only native, indigenous yeasts. The wine ages for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels with a consistent selection of 50% new oak, resting undisturbed on its fine lees without systematic racking to preserve structural concentration.
Tasting Note:
The wine reveals deep aromas of ripe yellow apple, white peach, toasted brioche, and white flowers. The palate is full-bodied, dense, and oily, balancing its layered stone fruit and subtle oak spice with a vibrant streak of stony acidity. The finish is remarkably long and intense, leaving a clean, mineral-driven impression with a touch of citrus oil.
