Masseto 2018, 750ml

100% Merlot sourced from the 7-hectare Masseto vineyard in Bolgheri, planted in Pliocene blue clay soils. The grapes were hand-harvested in several passes and double-sorted before being gently crushed. Fermentation took place in concrete tanks with a maceration period of 21 to 28 days. The wine aged for a total of 24 months in 100% new French oak barrels. After the first 12 months, the individual lots were blended and returned to the barrels for another 12 months of integration. Following the wood ageing, the wine was bottled and stayed in the cellar for 12 months of stabilization before release.

Tasting Note:

The nose is highly aromatic, featuring layers of ripe blackberry, dark cherry, and violet, intertwined with notes of dark chocolate and Mediterranean scrub. The palate is silky and expansive with refined, velvety tannins and a vibrant core of blue fruit. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant, characterized by a distinct saline minerality and spiced balsamic notes.
