Clynelish 1977, 47 Year Old, "Private Collection" G&M, 700ml

Distilled 1 March 1977, bottled 22 October 2024 from single refill American hogshead cask #2069. Cask strength, 45.5% ABV. Limited to 96 bottles.

Tasting Note:

Aromas of beeswax, heather honey, mirabelle plum and golden barley, with coastal brine, old parchment and crushed fern. As it opens, chamomile, candied lemon and polished oak emerge.

The palate is layered and textural, with wax and manuka honey unfolding into poached pear, apricot kernel and maritime minerality. A gentle waxy grip meets citrus pith, marzipan and a refined coastal peat echo. The finish is long and serene, fading through sea-spray, toasted brioche and herbal sweetness.

A pinnacle of Clynelish maturity, where refill hogshead preserves wax and Highland fruit. At its zenith now, with potential to evolve for a decade or more.
