Thibault Liger Belair Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2020, 750ml is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
100% Pinot Noir grown in a 0.75-hectare plot located in the southern part of the Clos, at the corner of the wall separating Les Echézeaux from Clos de Vougeot, in the lieu-dit Les Baudes Basses. The vines were planted in 1944 and 1992, and the rows stretch over 200 meters across three distinct soil types: stony limestone-clay, red clay with iron oxide, and fine clay-silt, contributing to a rounded and complex cuvée.
Fermentation lasted three weeks with minimal intervention and included 40% whole clusters, using native yeasts. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, with a restrained use of new wood to preserve site transparency.
Tasting Note:
On the nose, it reveals vibrant red fruit infused with brown spices and black pepper. The palate is balanced and structured, with fine, saturated tannins and fresh acidity supporting a long, precise finish. Overall, it’s a refined and layered Clos Vougeot that leans toward the finesse of Vosne-Romanée rather than the power typical of the northern part of the appellation.
