Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru 2018 comes from a 0.84-hectare parcel planted in 1957, located in the southern part of the climat. The soil is shallow, composed of brown and blond clay-limestone mixed with limestone gravel. Grapes were fully destemmed, followed by a cold maceration in stainless steel tanks for 5–7 days at 14°C. Fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeasts, using daily punch-downs and pump-overs for around ten days. The wine was aged for 16–18 months in 20–30% new French oak barrels and older barrels (1–2 years), without racking, fining, or filtration, and bottled by gravity.
Tasting Note:
Aromas of black cherry, dark fruit, licorice, spice and floral notes on the nose. Powerful attack. Concentrated fruit on the mid-palate with structured tannins and fresh acidity. The finish shows great length and 15-25 years of ageing potential.
