Bottled in 2023 at 43% ABV, this Islay single malt was matured in ex-bourbon casks for ten years and selected for its smoky character, which is atypical for Bunnahabhain. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled without added colour. The Discovery series categorizes whiskies by style, and this edition falls under the “smoky” profile, highlighting coastal and peated influences from the distillery.

Tasting Note:

On the nose, the whisky opens with vanilla custard, crushed meringue, and lemon curd, layered with seaweed, brine, and light peat smoke. The palate is sweet and creamy, showing candied lime, stewed pear, currants, and milk chocolate, with hints of leather and liquorice. The finish is long and smooth, with refined wood, tobacco, and bonfire embers. This bottling offers a coastal and smoky profile, balanced by citrus and soft sweetness.
