Kilkerran 2015, 8 Year Old "Heavily Peated", 20th Anniversary Fine Vintage Single Cask (2024), 700ml

Kilkerran Heavily Peated 8 Year Old is a single cask release from Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, bottled to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the distillery’s reopening in 2004. Distilled in November 2015 and bottled in June 2024 at 57.9% ABV, this single malt was matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel and released exclusively for Fine Vintage. The whisky is non-chill filtered and bottled without added colour. Only 252 bottles were produced, highlighting Glengyle’s traditional production methods and robust peated style.

Tasting Note:

On the nose, the whisky opens with forest berries, grapefruit peel, and campfire smoke, layered with heather honey and burnt sticks. The palate is sweet and smoky, showing marshmallow, dried plum, apricot, seaweed, and ginger. The finish is long and warming, with notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, and pepper. This bottling offers a bold and expressive profile, shaped by active bourbon cask maturation and Kilkerran’s signature peated character.
