Freemark Abbey Merlot 2019, 750ml
A blend of:
Keyes (51%): Near Angwin at 1,850 ft. on Howell Mountain, this vineyard's volcanic soil and cool nights produce Merlot with dark fruits and minerality.
Stagecoach Vineyard (24%): At 1,500 ft. on Atlas Peak, this vineyard's rocky, volcanic soil yields small, concentrated grapes with dark cherry depth.
Oakville Vineyard (12%): Rich clay loam soil supports healthy vineyards, producing wines with dark cherry and rhubarb pie flavors.
87% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tasting Note:
The wine opens with aromas of ripe plum, blueberry, milk chocolate and cedar. The palate is met with flavors of wild raspberry, bramble fruits, allspice, cinnamon, dry herbs, and oak spice. The textures are supple yet vibrant with well-integrated tannins that drink beautifully now.
