Domaine Lignier Michelot Chambolle Musigny V.V. 2020, 750ml
These vines, over 60 years old, are located on the Draseys and Gammaires parcels, north of Chambolle-Musigny. This 6,000-bottle cuvée is made with 70% whole clusters. It represents the northern side of the Chambolle-Musigny appellation and has characteristics similar to those of neighbouring Morey-Saint-Denis. It is a deep wine with lovely tannins.
Tasting Note
Another ludicrously dark purple. Virgile always gets deep colours anyway! 80% whole bunch. The bouquet is more representative of pinot fruit than the Bourgogne, with some redder notes in the mix. Generous but with a mineral acidity which underpins. Fresh red berries are the predominant flavour with a little lick of liquorice to finish. The tannins are well integrated.
