Domaine Francois Carillon Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru "Les Folatieres" 2021, 750ml

Folatieres is planted in a steep slope with clay, limestone, and pebbles soils, and 49-year-old vines, offering a balanced wine that is less ostentatious than its neighbors. The grapes are whole cluster pressed, then fermented and aged in oak barrels for 18 months, with 20% new oak and occasional lees stirring. (2 barrels instead of 12 produced).

Tasting Note:

The bouquet takes a moment but out it comes now, very well indeed. Bounding fresh plum fruit, this has not suffered unless perhaps the tiniest bit coarse to finish, which further elevage should resolve. Long, plump and with promise.
