This 85% Sangiovese and 15% blend of Colorino, Canaiolo, and Mammolo is sourced from estate vineyards with an average vine age of 20 to 30 years. The soils are primarily alluvial, characterized by sand, silt, and clay with a significant presence of stony debris. The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in small oak or concrete vats using indigenous yeasts, with a maceration period of 18 to 22 days and manual punch-downs. The wine aged for 18 to 24 months in Slavonian and French oak casks of varying sizes (ranging from 5 to 35 hectoliters) to allow for gradual oxygenation while preserving varietal character. After the ageing period, the wine was blended and stayed in the bottle for 4 months of stabilization before release.
Tasting Note:
The nose is expressive with aromas of red cherry, dried violets, and subtle earthy hints of tobacco and leather. The palate is medium-bodied and well-structured, showcasing vibrant acidity and refined tannins that support flavors of pomegranate, plum, and a touch of Mediterranean herbs. The finish is savory and persistent with a classic Tuscan mineral grip.
