Kavalan 2009 "15th Anniversary" Bourbon Cask Matured, 750ml

Kavalan Ex-Bourbon Single Cask Strength 2009 is a limited edition release celebrating the distillery’s 15th anniversary. Distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2024, this Taiwanese single malt was matured exclusively in hand-selected American ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 50% ABV. It is non-chill filtered and released as part of a commemorative duo alongside an Oloroso sherry cask variant. This bottling is among the oldest ever released by the distillery and was made available in select global markets.

Tasting Note:

On the nose, the whisky opens with toasted honeycomb, overripe apricot, and slivered almonds, followed by buttered sourdough and malt beer. The palate is layered and balanced, showing guava paste, rose and lavender syrup, almond cookie, and apricot preserves. The finish is smooth and lingering, with green fig and toasted bread. This bottling offers a refined and fruit-forward profile shaped by active bourbon cask maturation and Kavalan’s signature tropical ageing.
