Macallan 2005 "Speymalt" (2023 release) G&M, 700ml

This is an exclusive single-cask release within Gordon & MacPhail’s Speymalt range, presenting a single-malt spirit from the Macallan Distillery. Distilled in 2005 and matured for roughly 18 years in a single First Fill Sherry Butt (Cask #6818), it was bottled in 2023 at a natural cask strength of 54.5% ABV without chill-filtration or added coloring.

Tasting Note:

Aroma: Rich and decadent with dark fruitcake, Medjool dates, and black cherry jam opening into polished mahogany, espresso bean, and warm winter spices like clove and star anise.

Palate: Full-bodied and coating with a velvety texture. Deep flavors of dark chocolate truffle, stewed plums, and orange marmalade are balanced by toasted oak, leather, and a sharp ginger heat.

Finish: Long and warming with lingering notes of bitter cocoa, persistent sherry wood tannins, dried figs, and a touch of aromatic oak spice.
