A profoundly rare Aged Tawny Port blended by Charles Symington to mark the 80th birthday of his father, Peter Symington, and released following the formal recognition of the 80‑Year‑Old Tawny Port category by the IVDP in 2025. The blend is composed of exceptionally old wines, many originating from the early 1940s, that have spent nearly eight decades ageing in seasoned oak casks in Graham’s lodges. Prolonged oxidative ageing and natural concentration through evaporation have yielded extraordinary depth and finesse. Bottled at 20% abv, this wine was produced in an extremely limited edition of around 600 bottles.
Tasting Note:
A luminous pale mahogany colour with amber hues and green‑tinged highlights. The nose is lifted and complex, revealing aromas of walnut, dried fig, caramel and treacle, interwoven with notes of coffee, orange peel and tea. The palate is remarkably smooth and creamy, showing layers of mandarin, quince, praline, vanilla and butterscotch, underpinned by discreet yet vibrant acidity that brings freshness and balance. The finish is exceptionally long and polished, with lingering notes of tobacco and black tea.
