Domaine Guy Amiot Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "Clos St Jean" Blanc 2021, 750ml

100% Chardonnay from a 0.2462-hectare parcel of 25-year-old vines in the Clos Saint Jean Premier Cru climat in Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyard has northeast exposure on clay and limestone soils. The domaine hand-harvests the grapes, which are gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in tank with judicious bâtonnage, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (mix of used and new) for 12 months, then assembled in tank for an additional 6 months before bottling.

Tasting Note:

The 2021 opens with aromas of ripe pear, white peach, lemon, green apple, white flowers, and subtle hazelnut with mineral and light toasty oak notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied with rich yet precise orchard fruit, creamy texture balanced by vibrant acidity, fine minerality, and a long, saline, harmonious finish. Generous, classic, and built for ageing.
