Domaine Jean Marc Boillot Volnay 1er Cru "Pitures" 2020, 750ml

100% Pinot Noir from old vines (planted 1949–1958) in the Les Pitures climat, a 1er Cru site on the border with Pommard in Volnay. The vineyard has cold clay-rich soils mixed with heavy limestone, producing structured wines. The domaine hand-harvests the grapes, which are fully destemmed, and uses traditional vinification with native yeasts followed by ageing in French oak barrels with a proportion of new oak.

Tasting Note:

The 2020 opens with aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, cassis, roasted earth, spice, and subtle floral notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied with concentrated dark fruit, firm yet ripe tannins, good depth, vibrant acidity, and a long, structured finish. Powerful, robust, and Pommard-like in character with excellent ageing potential.
