Chateau Lagrezette, Cahors 2018, 750ml

Sourced from vineyards on the third terrace of the Lot Valley, planted on clay‑loam and gravel soils over Kimmeridgian limestone. The wine is made predominantly from Malbec, complemented by a small proportion of Merlot, harvested by hand. Vinification includes a cold pre‑fermentation maceration, followed by temperature‑controlled fermentation with regular pump‑overs and punch‑downs. Malolactic fermentation takes place in a combination of vats and barrels, before ageing for approximately 18 months in French oak, with around 30% new barrels, the remainder in one‑ and two‑year‑old casks.

Tasting Note:

Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and ripe plum with notes of spice, licorice and subtle truffle on the nose. Dense and structured on the attack, with a concentrated mid‑palate supported by firm, fine‑grained tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is long, fresh and persistent, reflecting the depth and classic style of Cahors.
