Mount Riley Merlot Malbec 2022, 750ml

95% Merlot and 5% Malbec from low-yield vineyards in the central Wairau Valley, Marlborough. The grapes were hand-harvested and vinified in a fruit-driven Bordeaux style. The wine underwent traditional fermentation followed by ageing for 10 months in French oak barriques, of which 10% were new.

Tasting Note:

The 2022 opens with aromas of black and red fruits, dark berry, red plum, and subtle spice with a hint of chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with great fruit purity, juicy dark and red fruit, supple tannins, balanced structure, and a lingering, smooth finish. Approachable, harmonious, and versatile.
