Daniel Bouju Cognac Grande Champagne Royal, 700ml

This is a specialized expression from Daniel Bouju, a family-run house established in 1805 in the village of Saint-Preuil. Produced using Ugni Blanc grapes grown exclusively in the Grande Champagne region, known for its chalky soil and premium quality, the spirit is distilled in traditional small copper alembic stills. This Cognac is matured for approximately 15 years in new Limousin oak casks with a coarse grain, which imparts a deep color and intense character. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 60% alcohol by volume without the addition of sugar, caramel, or boisé.

Tasting Note:

Aroma: Powerful and concentrated with initial scents of dark chocolate, polished wood, and heavy rancio. These notes are followed by layers of dried plums, vanilla bean, and a distinct floral undertone typical of the premier cru.

Palate: Rich and intense with a velvety texture featuring flavors of black coffee, bitter cocoa, and spicy oak. The mid-palate develops with notes of nutmeg, cloves, and a deep fruitiness of stewed prunes and raisins.

Finish: The texture is viscous and leads into an exceptionally long finish of persistent oak tannins, cigar box, and a warming, refined spice that lingers on the palate.
